Automotive / Technical Information
The Coachman Camper is a 2 axle trailer is easy to tow. Weighing approximately 4257 pounds. It is equipped with trailer brakes and measures 21 feet long, 7 feet wide, and 11 feet tall. Can be pulled with an SUV, Van or Truck with a dry weight of only 4257 lbs. You must have an electronic brake controller installed in your vehicle prior to pickup! Very important for your safe travels. We are providing sway control and weight distribution bars if your vehicle requires it at no additional cost. The weight distribution system is set up for a standard height vehicle and may require additional adjustment for your vehicle. You must adjust properly prior to departure. If you intend on using your own hitch equipment that is fine with us please make sure it is in proper working order prior to pickup
You may enter Canada but you are not allowed to travel into Mexico. Coverages are invalid if problems occur in restricted areas and all recovery expenses are at the renter’s own cost. Violations of these restrictions void damage waivers and the renter will be held liable for all vehicle damages including to tires, towing charges and other related expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in these areas. Travel on all public and/or numbered roads is permitted. Be sure to be vigilant for low bridges, low hanging trees, and roads restricting larger vehicles. Travel on non-public roads, unpaved back roads, trails and the like commonly called logging roads or on any surface subjecting the vehicle to unreasonable damage or road hazard is prohibited. Due to restrictions on vehicle heights, propane gas, and parking, vehicles with propane are not permitted in Manhattan and are not permitted to travel through any underground or underwater tunnels. We reserve the right to restrict travel.
Check your tow vehicle owner’s manual or vehicle dealer for towing capacity. When using the max towing capacity to determine which trailer your vehicle can safely tow, remember that passenger weight, optional equipment, and additional cargo needs to be added into the equation. Do not exceed your vehicle’s towing capacity because doing so can affect your vehicle’s stopping ability, handling, or possibly even damage the drivetrain. Dry weight is the weight of the trailer without any liquids, passengers, or cargo. Manufacturers weigh new units before shipping them and record that weight as the Dry Weight. It is similar to Curb Weight for automobiles. Gross weight is the combined weight of the RV (dry weight), plus liquids, passengers, and cargo. Tongue weight is the weight placed on the hitch when the trailer is coupled to your vehicle.
The tongue weight should be 10-15% of the trailer’s gross vehicle weight. Hitches must be rated high enough to tow the trailer (class 3 hitch or higher for most of our trailers). Look in your owner’s manual some hitches are rated higher than what the vehicle can tow. Your tow vehicle must be equipped with a round 7 way RV connector and electric brake control (brake control required by law on trailers registered over 3,000 pounds). Some of our trailers only require a flat 4 electrical connections and do not require electric brakes, but are still recommended. We do not sell and install hitches, electrical connectors, or brake controls this must be installed in advance. We do not adjust hitches and ball setups. No refunds will be offered if you arrive without proper equipment.
We offer our ball mounts with weight control and anti-sway at no additional cost, however, you will be responsible for proper adjustment prior to departure. A weight distribution ball mount assembly & friction sway control is recommended on larger trailers based on your towing vehicle.
